October 2004:  IU Challenges Christian Perspective

Michael Knapp, a former student and Resident Assistant at Indiana University (from 1995-1996), encountered difficulties when he attempted to share his Christian views on homosexuality with current resident assistants at IU. He was ordered by officials from the Department of Residence Life to cease his attempts to disseminate his ideas among the staff. In a letter posted on the web site of the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuals (NARTH), a group that questions scientific thought about the biological origins of homosexuality and promotes Christian values, Knapp asserted that IU has taken a strong “’anti-hate’ approach to pro-gay programming” and, as a result, attempts to silence Christian beliefs that homosexuality is “sinful.”
