Martha and her students explored education through video games. An intensive Game Design workshop given by industry professional Tracy Fullerton served as the gateway for the semester. The seminar explored east central Indiana’s native ecosystems, developed story-telling strategies, and environmental educational objectives for school children. They then designed and created a 2-D video game entitled, Navigating Nature, that fosters the learning of landscape systems and the restoration process. They collaborated with
students in a 2nd grade class at Storer Elementary to develop the narrative and playtest the game. Martha’s other partners included Minnetrista Center and several environmental organizations. |
