Rebecca Kathleen Austin is a playwright, poet, and avid knitter based in the Midwest. Born in Columbus, Indiana, she has always enjoyed theatre, even from a young age. Over the course of her career so far, Rebecca has directed, acted, managed front of house and ticket sales, and even dabbled in sound and light design. When not doing theatre, she likes to knit adorable things. Currently, she studies theatre and creative writing at Ball State University, with plans to pursue her MFA in Playwriting sometime in the future. Her plays have received multiple concert readings at Ball State. Most recently, Daughter Box received a concert reading during Ball State's annual Playwriting Week, with current plans to stage a full production in the Spring of 2014 as a part of the Festival of New Plays. Rebecca is a proud advocate of new work, and enjoys developing theatre with others just as much as she enjoys writing on her own. The Liar’s Bench is her third immersive learning opportunity, and her second time as a student at the Virginia Ball Center for Creative Inquiry. As a writer strongly interested in community, change, and how it all collides, she could not be happier to be involved in The Liar’s Bench! She would like to thank Jennifer Blackmer for giving her this amazing opportunity, and for the rest of her family for supporting her passions!
